Complete Stand-Alone Solar Electric Power Systems
The solar electric energy systems on this page are
Examples of our complete Stand-alone solar power systems complete with the charge
controllers, disconnects, and inverter mounted and pre-wired.
We
also have systems designed strictly for Utility intertie applications that use no batteries and
are designed
to enable Net Metering (lowering your power bill) with your utility company. We will work with your contractor or architect for developing specifications on a system for a specific project.
The budgetary examples below of stand-alone type systems include
solar panels ready-to-mount with all mounts
and mounting hardware. Wiring needed for
connecting the modules to the control panel and the
control panel to the batteries and batteries are not included. A gas or diesel burning generator may
be used with these systems if desired to add
electricity for days when heavier electrical use than
normal occurs. Wind generators
may also be used in the same system to boost
your power input.
The
systems' equipment components are designed to meet NEC
(National Electric Code) requirements and use UL®
Listed system components .
While installing the pre-engineered hardware is
straightforward for anyone capable, we can only
recommend that you have a
qualified electrician connect the wiring. Although it is not complicated, the safety
factor is always in proper wiring of any electrical
system or appliance. A section of the NEC code
is dedicated to photovoltaic systems and another on DC wiring.
The components' wiring specifications are supplied
from the manufacturer on each component.
We are capable of designing and handling the installations of the
systems we sell world-wide.
Solar modules used in these systems produce DC current and are available in sizes fromm 55 to 185 watts. Each module is
individually tested and labeled with a 20 or 25-year
output warranty by the manufacturer. Your choice of roof, ground or top-of-pole
mounts. This hardware system and the modules it
supports are rated to withstand winds up to 125 MPH and
up to 1 inch hail.
We
also design complete solar electric systems with Sharp, BP, Shell, Kyocera and
Evergreen solar electric panels. The life expectancy of a solar electric panel is
40+ years.
Your local
area's average full sun hours per day multiplied by
the system's rated output wattage will be close to the average
electrical power yield per day. Full sun hours
equate to kWH/meter² on these maps. Line and
storage system losses must also be calculated-we do
that. You can use the link below to find your area's
average Full Sun Hours.

You must also know the watt hours of power
that you will average using per day to choose a system. Use
our calculators page below to help estimate your energy
needs or let us help.
If your total AC loads that are to
be run simultaneously should exceed the 4000 watt
continuous rated output of the inverter we can stack two
interfaced for greater peak output capacity. These
systems are equipped with one Xantrex SW4000 inverter. An
electric-crank fossil-fuel generator may be
automatically cranked by a generator controller whenever a
user-determined low battery voltage level is sensed. The
inverter has a
built in efficient battery charger that will
quickly charge the battery bank from a gas, propane or
diesel generator's 120 volt output if/when needed.
A system can be designed for higher continuous
and surge output using larger inverters. The complete power center is now
UL®
Listed.
If your power requirements are not
met by one of these systems,we will be happy to custom
design a system to meet your specific needs! Use
the calculators page below to assist in estimating your
energy needs (watt hours per day).
Remember: Rated array output X full
sun hours per day equals approximate average watt hours/day
production.
Using the most energy efficienct
appliances available and compact fluorescent lighting is critical to
keep your system cost reasonable.
Remember - You
can light three rooms with compact flourescent
bulbs
using the same
electricity as you would to light one room
with an
average incandescent bulb!
